What is horizontal directional drilling (HDD) and how is it different from open-cut trenching?
Horizontal directional drilling, also called directional boring, installs underground utilities by drilling a pilot bore along a planned path and then pulling pipe through the enlarged bore. Unlike open-cut trenching, it minimizes surface disruption, which is critical for crossings under rivers, highways, and railroads.
What pipe sizes and bore lengths can Directional Plus handle?
We install a wide range of diameters — from small conduit bundles to large-diameter utility mains — with long-distance bore capability suited for river, highway, and railroad crossings. For project-specific sizing, submit details through our Request a Quote form.
Does Directional Plus take residential projects?
No. Directional Plus focuses exclusively on commercial and heavy-civil directional boring work. We do not perform residential projects.
